SALES BY AUCTION. April 2. The Observer newspaper was Bold by auction to-day by Messrs, Cochrane and Son at their rooms. The paper, plant, to., was purchased by Mr. N. 6. Lennox for £1500. April 3. The Vetch Agnes Martin was sold by anction to-day by Messrs. Cochrane and Son's, and was quitted for £500. _ The outter Fawn was alio offered, bet the bidding not being up to the reserve she was withdrawn. Mr. Gabriel Lewis hold a trade sale of oils., paints, leads, at his rooms to-day: The trade was well represented, and the bulk of the lines found bnyers at fair rates. Mr. R. C. At Mr. B. O. Greenwood's sale to-day of city properties, a house and shop, Franklin-road", was sold for £395. The Royal Hotel at Hamilton was put up to auction, at the room of Mr. Gabriel Lewis, by order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court. The bidding commenced at £1000, and was bought in at £147 d, being slightly under the reserve. Mr. G. W. Binney held a sale of leasehold' city properties yesterday. April 24. Messrs. G, "W. Binney and Co. report at their weekly sale of wool, hides, and akins, the market for hides is still weak, ordinary lots sold from.3d to 3id ; inferior, 2d to 23d per lb. Station skins, 2s 2d to 3s 7d ; lamb skins, 2s Id to 2s 7a; pelts, lOd to Is 7d ; green. 2s 2d each: scoured pelt wool, 7d per lb.
