SALES BY AUCTION. April 2. The Observer newspaper was Bold by auction to-day by Messrs, Cochrane and Son at their rooms. The paper, plant, to., was purchased by Mr. N. 6. Lennox for £1500. April 3. The Vetch Agnes Martin was sold by anction to-day by Messrs. Cochrane and Son's, and was quitted for £500. _ The outter Fawn was alio offered, bet the bidding not being up to the reserve she was withdrawn. Mr. Gabriel Lewis hold a trade sale of oils., paints, leads, at his rooms to-day: The trade was well represented, and the bulk of the lines found bnyers at fair rates. Mr. R. C. Greenwood sold to-day, by auction, the following Gold Mining Companies 3 shares Hanraki, 2136, at Is ; Phoenix, 1100 at s£d, 300 at 6d ; Waiorongomai. 390 at Is 7d. 400 at Is 6d. „ „ , April 8. Messrs. Cochrane and Son sold at their rooms to-day the following properties, by order of the trustee under the will of the late James King, of Whiringatau, Bay of Islands. There was a good attendanoe, and the following priceß were realised 1512 acres, Hokiaaga, 2s 3d an acre ; 80 do., 2s ; 2 allotments at Te Puna at 2s. John Reid and Co. sold by auction at their mart a five-roomed house and 93 feet frontaee. at Northcote, for £160. The land sale to-day, at the mart of Mr. D. F. Evans, was very well attended. The following lots were disposed of Pompallier Terrace : Lot 1, £3 per foot. Church-street: Lot 6, £2 2s per foot; lot 8, £2 10s 6d per foot; lot 9, £3 per foot ; lot 10, £3 per foot; lot 11, £217s 6d per foot; lot 12, £3 6s per foot : lot 13, £2 15s per foot. April 10. At Mr. B. O. Greenwood's sale to-day of city properties, a house and shop, Franklin-road", was sold for £395. The Royal Hotel at Hamilton was put up to auction, at the room of Mr. Gabriel Lewis, by order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court. The bidding commenced at £1000, and was bought in at £147 d, being slightly under the reserve. Mr. G. W. Binney held a sale of leasehold' city properties yesterday. There was a good attendance, and the following prices were realised Lota facing Grey-street, 47 feet 8 inches, £3 per foot per annum; 3 lots, each 34 feet 9 inches, £510s, £5 ss, and £4 10s per foet per annum ; two lots running from Cook-street to Market entrance, £15 and £21 10s each per annum; four lots in Albert-street, £30 each per annum. Mr. Gabriel Lewis held a trade sale of hardware at his rooms to-day. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and a large lot changed hands at fair prices. - . . April 19. To-day Messrs. Hunter and Nolan held an important sale of horse ntoolc. Ten very fine Clydesdale mares were sold in one line to Mr. Phillips for £525, and some fifty horses of various classes, but of excellent stamp, imported from the West Coast by Messrs, Morton and Chadwick, sold at from £5 to £43. April 23.' Messrs. E, ana A« Xia&ci sold by auction yesterday the emigrants' fittings, . cooking utensils,, baths, etc., ex Rangitikei. The attendance was geod, and fair prices were realised. The surplus stores are to be sold in a few days. Messrs. Cochrane and Son sold at their rooms to-day 17 acres at Horotiu, Waikato, ■ for £41; arid 46 acres in the same parish for £155; 1 in Newcastle township for £12 10». The lease of premises in Shortland-street, occupied by Mr. Murohie, was re-leased at a yearly rental of £160; 37 tramway shares (10s per share paid up) at 5s per share, and a wooden house for removal on the Tamaki-iosd, for £5. April 24. Messrs. G, "W. Binney and Co. report at their weekly sale of wool, hides, and akins, the market for hides is still weak, ordinary lots sold from.3d to 3id ; inferior, 2d to 23d per lb. Station skins, 2s 2d to 3s 7d ; lamb skins, 2s Id to 2s 7a; pelts, lOd to Is 7d ; green. 2s 2d each: scoured pelt wool, 7d per lb.
