' It has transpired that : a Note has - w cently been addressed to the European Powers by the British Government) suggesting that a Conference should be held to consider the present state of Egyptian affairs. In their replies all the Powers have assented to the principle involved, and it is understood that a meeting of European Plenipotentiaries will take pla.ce at an early date.
