SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN A THEATRE.
[BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Wednesday. The performance at the Prinoess Theatre terminated somewhat abruptly last night, owing to an accident, by which Miss Carry Nelson was severely injured. Daring the progress of the play of "Drink," at the second scene of the first act, viz., the wash house scene, while Misa Kelson, Miss Kosamond, Miss St. John, and Mrs. Knight were standing on a kind of bridge held by ropes at eaoh end, and fastened by taking a turn round cleats nailed on two upright posts, and while they were preparing to come down, upon the stage, one of the cleats suddenly gave way, and the four ladies fell to the bottom of the cellar amongst a lot of debris, the height being abont 30 feet from where they were standing. Miss Nelson is the principal sufferer, her back being injured to some degree, but it is hoped there will be no permanent hart. Miss Rosamond's injuries appear to be a sprained and contused arm, while Miss St. John is severely crushed. Mrs. Knight has her knee injured and her ankle sprained. ■
