FISH-CURING INDUSTRY.
A meeting of persons interested in the establishment of a fish-curing, fish-amokiDg, and canning company, was held at the Waitemata Hotel, last evening. Owing to the inclemency of the weather, theattendance was not large. Mr. Cole was voted to the chair, and briefly stated the object of the meeting. Mr. Braßsey read the prospectus of the company, which stated that it was proposed to establish a company with a capital of £6000; to purchase Mr. Frank Williams' property ; the name of the company to be the Auckland Fish Company (Limited). The promoters proposed to pay Mr. Williams £1000 for his good will, £620 for four fishing-boats, &c.; £247 for Fortstreet property for smoking and curing purposes. £1000 to bo paid to Mr. Williams, and Mr. Williams to be allotted 1000 paid-up shares. The estimat-ed profits are £450 monthly. Mr. Williams agreed to enter the service of the company. It was proposed to purchase refrigerating machinery, to secure a supply of fresh fish being alwayß on hand. It was also proposed to purchase a steam tender to wait on the fishing smacks to expedite business. The canning of mullet and other fish is also contemplated. Mr. Brassey suggested that those present should enquire what number of shares will be takon, and report to a subsequent meeting. It was agreed to print the prospectus, and circulate copies. The meeting was then adjourned till Thursday evening next at the same hour and place.' From the statements of those present, it appears likely that the shares will be speedily taken up.
