At the meeting of the New Zealand Educational Institute to-day the following resolutions were carried: — Proposed by Mr. Peattie, "That the Senate of the New Zealand University be memorialised for an extension of the time allowed to teachers proceeding to the B.A. degree proposed by Mr. White, " That the Government be nrged to eliminate history as a pass subject from the third standard proposed by Mr. White, "That, in the opinion of this Council, the annual examination of teachers should be held towards the end of December of each year, not immediately after the Christmas recess, as at presentproposed by the President, "That the President and Secretary be authorised to prepare a report of the proceedings of the Council, and print J 000 copies for circulation among the branches of the institute, the costs to be borne pro rata proposed by Mr. Scott, " That, in the opinion of this Council, it is against the recognised Principles of education, and not in aecordmce with the staqdard regulations that c lildren should necessarily be annually prejimted in a standard higher than that previously passed."
