_OAMAJRU RACES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Oahaivo, Thursday. There was a fair attendance at the Spring Meeting of the Oamaru Jockey Club. The weather was splendid. The following are the results:— Maiden Plats of 40sovs,j 1 mile and a quarter. Mr. Goodman's Molly Bawn, Bst 91bs (Rudding)... ... 1 Mr. McClure's Barnaby, 7st lllbs. (Derritt) 2 Mr. Hains' Statesman, Bst lllbs (Hickson) ... ••• 3 Queen Bob, • Encore, Roseneath, Canary, and Maid of Erin, also ran. Barnaby at once went to the front, and kept the lead until opposite the stand, when Statesman went up, and the pair raced together for some distance. Coming into the straight Molly Bawn closed on the leaders, and from that point to the finish was never in doubt, Molly Bawn winning By two lengths from Barnaby, Statesman being a fair third. The rest tailed off in ludian file. Time, 2min. 22£secs. £131 in the totalisator; £46 on the winner. Oamaro Spring Hasdigap of lOOsovs. 1 mile and a half. Mr. Goodman's "Violin, 6st 121bs (M. O'Connor) 1 Mr. Cotton's Adamant, 7tt 131bs (Sharpe) 2 Mr. Stephenson's Taiaroa, 7st 131bs (J. O'Connor).., ... 3 Roßenoath was scratched. The trio werd despatched to a good start, Adamant getting a little the best of it and leading past the stand the first time round. At

the half-mile post Violin passed Adamant, Taiaroa lying close up. Violin maintained the lead to the finish, winning rather easily by a couple of lengths, Taiaroa being about six lengths behind Adamant. Time, 2mins. 49secs. £299 in the totalisator ; £72 on the winner. Hack Race of 20bovb. was won by Testrian. Counties Plate of 30bovs. Six furlongs. I The lot wero let go to a very uneven start, Barney getting all the worst of it. Karera got away with the lead, followed closely by Hineura, Matipo, arid Magician. Whenconiing into the straight the latter came through his horseß in fine style and won easily, Hineura being second, and Karera third. £300 in the totalisator; £112 on the winner. A protest was entered against Magician on the ground that he had previously won an advertised race of £30, but the stewards disallowed the protest.

Handicap Time Tbot Race of 3Qsovs. Twice round the course. Mr. Thomas' Bella, 35secs. ... ... 1 Mr. Wilson's Disappointment, 25secs. ... 2 Mr. Aitkenhead's Tiger, 253ecs. ... ... 3 The race was a very hollow affair as Bella won as she liked, never allowing anything to get within 200 yards of her. Disappointment and Tiger fought hard for second place. £216 in the totalisator; £30 on the winner. Gband Stantj Handicap of 40sovs. One mile and a quarter. Mr. Cotton's Prospero, fist 61b9 1 Mr. J.
