FATAL BOATING ACCIDENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, Thursday. • Tins afternoon Hngh Minnie, carpenter of the Doric, was drowned in Ly ttelton harbonr. Ho was one of a namber of the crew of the steamer cruising round the harbour in one of Bhip's boats. For some cause, the boat turned over near the reef, and Minnis, who essayed to swim ashore, was drowned. The bciat was under sail at the time, and was seen from the shore to go over. Help was not long in. reaching the scene. The men who were clinging to her were rescnod. The body is not yet recovered.
