DOMAIN BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Domain Board was held yesttrday afternoon. Present: Messrs. F. D. Fenton (Chairman), S. P. Smith, Sutton, Peacock, Walker, and Aickin. The minutes of last meeting, also minutes of a special meeting, were read and confirmed. One meeting lapsed. At this it was arranged to grant a lease of the Domain Gardens to Mr. Brewin for a term of seven years, at £40 a-year, subject to the approval of the next meeting, an which there was a quorum. A quorum of members had signed iho agreement, and it was agreed to adopt and sauction the proceedings of this meeting.

Extension of GjKden Area.—Mr. K. Brewin applied for some extra land which was not part of the Gardens, and which was not included iu the Cricket Ground. It was at present a mass of docks, and he asked to be allowed to utilise it.— It was agreed that the request be granted, subject to the land being given up whenever it was required, and tuat it be not used for grazing purposes.

Observatory. — A letter was received from Mr. E. B. Dickson, through Mr. Cheeseman, in reference to the old Observa"tory, requesting thai the building might be removed.—lt was agreed to instruct the Hanger to demolish the buildiDg.

Extension of Lease. — Hugh Gordon asked for an extension of hid lease in Wynyard-3treet. , The building was now iu a bad slate, and he wanted to make repairs and additions.—lt transpired that the existing lease had eight years to run, and it was agrotd to inform Mr. Gordon that tne Board had no power to grant the application.

Exchange of Seeds.—ln reply to a communication from the Board, Mr. Gilfoyle, manager of the Botanical Gardens, Melbourne, wrote in regard to an exchange of seeds, and forwarded a list of native plants which he would desire.—The matter was referred to Messrs. Aickin and Mackechnie with power to act, and to make a selection up to the amount of £10 to be forwarded to Melbourne; also to select what seeds they would ask for in return.

Mulberry. —The Chairman said that a telegram had been received from the Hon. Mr. Kolleston, Minister of Lands, requesting that a large number of mulberries ehould be planted. He (the Chairman) replied asking what number would be required. To this, he. received a reply, "as large a number as possible," and the Chairman had informed Mr. Rolleaton that 1500 could be supplied at once.—The proceedings o£ the Chairman approved. Kkqdisitions. — Requisitions for coke, scoria, and lime, received from the ranger, were granted. Cinchona.—lt was stated that the ranger had already pricked off afcout SOO or 900 cinchona plants, and that they were in very good condition. Accounts.—Current accounts, amounting to £12, were passed for payment.
