TE MATA.
The vaccination officer, Mr. R. Hooper, of Waitetuua, has been here, operating on about twenty children of this district with success. The Rev. E. Phillips, of Te Awamutn, preached in the sehool-house on Friday eveuing, the 29th o:t September. He held Divine service at Ruapuke on Sunday morning, and at Waitetuna in the afternoon. The weather is very wet now. The soil here being very li&ht, and the late fine weather lasting for several weeks, rain waß very much needed. I hear that the formation of that part of the Kawhi»-road, between this place and Aotea, will shortly te recommenced ; and a good thing too, or all the beat weather will be lost for the work. What has been already formed by the natives, under European superintendence, is good. A few mouths' work would suffice to complete the road from Raglan to the Aote.l Harbour.—[Own Correspondent, October I.]
