WAIKATO DISTRICT NEWS.
[FKOM ODK OW.N CORKE3PONDEJSTB.] „ Hamilton, Monday. A week's dry and fine, but cold, weather, ' which hat) made feed ad' scarce as ever, has been succeeded by a heavy and continuous sain throughout Saturday night and the greater part of Sunday, and this morning toere was a hard frost with ice the thicknesa of a penDy piece. The attention of the Hamilton highway district needs imperatively calling towards the neglected state of the old WhatawhataHamilton road, a portion of which near Seeley's farm is so bad as to cut off the settlers living on the Whatawhata side of it coming into Hamilton, except by going round by Whatawhata, and then by the new road, nearly doubling the distance. Till recently the ocupiers ol theße eight or ten farms could make a short detour of this impassable piece of road by trespassing on the farms o£ JVtr. Seeley and aaother, but this is now rendered impossible by the erection of a post and wire fence across the road deviation so uaed. If the Board is not in sufficient funds to undertake the repair of this piece of road, which will not, however, coat more tkin £100, immediate steps should ba taken to provide the money under the .Roads and Bridges Construction Act.
