The Melbourne Argus ..has. the. followiug; respecting the arrest of C. J. Smyth.:—" A. clerk in the Hank of Australasia, Melbonrne, named .Charles John Smyth, "aged 27 years, was .arrested yesterday afternoon by Detecand lodged in' the "city watchhouse, : on. a charge of embezzlement committed,in New Zealand. He was formerly employed in the Bank of Australasia,. Auckland, New Zealand, and it is alleged that in the year 1880 he embezzled the suxn of £53."
