THE NEW MINISTRY.
REPRESENTATION OF AUCKLAND IN THE CABINET. fjJY TELtGiIAPH.—OWN CORRKSPON'DENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. It is rumoured that with the view of securing equilibrium of local representation in the Cabinet, one of the following alternative courses will be adopted to give Auckland a voice in the Ministry, namely, that either an Auckland Legislative Councillor will be appointed Minister without portfolio—in fact succeeding to the position occupied in the Whitaker Ministry by Mr. Oliver; or else a new Auckland member of the Legislative Council will.be appointed with the object of his holding such position; or thirdly, that Mr. Walter Johnston's, place on his retirement in a few months will bj" filled by an Auckland member. One of these course* - is, I believe, almost certain to be adopted.
