THE GOLDFIELDS.
New Cowmbia.—The following mine manager's report was received yesterday : —At the time I wrote my last report I. thought that before this I should have effected a connection between the intermediate and Rubylevels. Notwithstanding the survey the rise has come up on the footwall branch, whereas the winze is sunk "oa .the hanging-wall portion. There is two parallel reefs. The footwall reef has a dip ivf one in five, whereas the hangingwall one ia almost vertical. After rising 52 feet and getting no water of any consequence I decided to bail the winze and sound. Having done this I concluded to drive in the hangingwall. I estimate a distance of 15 feet will out the reef, 14 o£ which has been driven since last Tuesday. Water is now coming from the fsce, indicating quartz at hand. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWi' CORRESPONDENT.J \ Thames, Tuesday evening.
