SERIOUS STREET ACCIDENT.

A boy named George Henry Busby, aged 10 years, son of Mr. A. N. Busby, of Busby Brothers, Venetian blind manufacturers, Grey-street, was Beriouely injured at the corner of Queen and Durham Streets yesterday. At a little past one o'clock in the afternoon the injured lad and his brother were proceeding down Queen-street, and as they were walking over the crossing at Durham-street a spring-trap driven by a son of Mr. W. R. Smith, carrier, Brighton, came round the corner at a trot. The boys ran to escape it, but one of them was knocked down, and the wheel passed over his chest. The injured lad was taken into the British Hotel, where he was attended to by Dr. Murray Moore. Dr. Moore, utter examination, ordered him to be taken home. A stretcher was procured from Messrs. Leydonß' (auctioneers') establishment, and Mr. Busby, who had arrived by this time, with the assistance of several men, conveyed his son ttt his home at Kast-street, Newton. Drs. Goldsbro' and Moore, who are attending the lad, give hopes of his recovery, but state that the wounis are very dangerous, the chest having been crushed in, and the lungs, and probably other organs, being injured. Mr. Busby expresses his thanka to Mr, Humphries and others who freely gave their assistance. On enquiry at a late hour last evening, we learned that the lad was conscious, but had been in great pain during the afternoon and evening. The traffic in Queen-street is now so heavy that drivers should be very careful in turning corners and in passing crossings. The police are enquiring into the present case with the view of prosecuting the driver if he is to blame.
