THE SURREY HILLS ESTATE.
MEETING OF THE NEWTON HIGHWAY BOARD. IMPORTANT ACTION. A special meeting of the Newton Highway Board was held laat evening to consider the proposed plan of subdividing the Surrey Hills Estate, this estate being within the Newton highway district. All the members of the Board were present, viz., Messrs. Robert Warwick (Chairman), John Bdlington, Edward Woolfield, J. Holland, and G. Buckley. The plans of the estate were produced, and were considered' by tho Board. The narrow road 3 and rights-of-way were unanimously condemned. The followiog resolutions were carried, legal advice having been previously taken by thr Board : "Resolved that clause 156, of Road Board Act, 1882, be brought into operation io Newton road district, viz,, that no road be allowed within the boundaries of said district of a less width than one chain (66 feet)." "That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the agent of the Sarrey Hills Estate, as well as notifying to the Registrar of Deeds that the proposed plan of sale of this estate is in contravention of_ the Act, and requiring him to refuse to register any deeds of land within the Newton highway district, not complying with this clauße of the Act."
