A public hall has recently been erected at Mount Eden, by Mr. H. VVaite, as a speculative enterprise, but which will prove a great convenience to the residents of that district, as affording accommodation for public meetings and for social reaniona. The hall is built iu ornamental style, and has two anterooms attached. A dado runs round the interior of tho hall, to a height of several feet, the reinaii.der of the wall being papered aiid relieved by medallions. The roof is panelled, and painted white. Gas is laid on throughout The building has cost about £300, the contractor beii>g Mr. Surman. It will be formally opened to-night, at half-past Beven o'clock, when there will be a social gathering, after whicb, ac half-past nine o'clock, a quadrii'.e party. A goodly number of invitations have been issued.
