THE GOLDFIELDS.

Golden Hill (Te Aroha).—On the 31st of August a meeting of shareholders of Nos. 1, 2, and 3, Gulden Hill licensed holdings, was held at Te Aroha, and formed themselves into a company, to be called the Golden Hill Gold Mining Company (Limited), with a capital of £30,000, in 30,000 shares of £1 each, nil paid up : 20,980 shares to be allotted to the shareholders of the tbree licensed holdings ; 4000 to be allotted to the Bonanza claim (now added to the company's area); and 5020 shares to be sold for the benefit of the company. The following were appointed directors :—Messrs. \V. Wilkinson, Woliff, J. Stacey, William Wilson, W. F. Cocks, John Allwood, and William Findlay. Legal .Manager, Mr. R. McDonald Scott; and Auditor, Mr. John Waymouth. Tbree thousand of the above company's Bhares (all that are intended to be •■ffered at present) have been taken up, providing a cash amount for the company to start with. The company's claim nnw consists of 60 men's ground. Waitoki (Te Aroha).—The following report wae received yesterday :—This week, I have had two men working, and I have been putting quartz in hopper ready for cuahing. The reef is six ieet thick, and I can see gold every day.

Sha.ri:markf.t. — Dart, 6s 6d ; Deep Level Cross, sellers, 3s 6d ; Imperial. 39s 6d, buyers, 39s ; New Find, Ba, buj ers, Sa 6d ; Werahiko, buyers, os 3d. Impkrial.—There is a show of gold overhead where the 2cwt. of specimens were taken from to-day. Gold ie showing in the hangingwall leader near the break. Quartz is making in the winze from No. 7 level. Deep Lkvel Cross.—Colours of gold were seen in the winze on the cross reef yesterday, 1 and in the winze on the hangingwall lender to-day. Some of the cross reef seaward wae broken down today. The lode is about two feet wide, and the quartz is improving in appearance. The manager intends to stop communication with the Caledonijji at th<t 400 feet level to-morrow, and thus enable driving to be continued at the 640 foet level. Dart.—The footwall of No. 2 reef has been found at No. 3 level. No gold was seen in the portion broken down. The lode is about 4i feet wide.

Seymodr.—The cross cut for tha Lucknow lode has be»n stopped, and the manager is of opinion that the one already driven on northward is probably it. A rise has been commenced on it. The country is improving, and colours and dabs of gold have been seen in the quartz. The lode is about IS inches wide.

TE AROHA. [FROM OT7R OWN CORRESPONDENT, i Vulcan.—Work has been started ic this mine, under the management of Mr. Hutchinsou. The Premier reef runs through the whole length of the company's ground, and the manager intends driving both ways from the old crosa-cut, to get on to the vein of gold which was found on the cap of the reef, and which apppared to be underlying eastward. Very little of the reef has been broken down, and as gold was got in the crosscut, he expects, in driving toward the Premier, to get on payable quartz. Last Fisd.—Mr. McDonald Scott, the legal manager of the company, forwarded instructions to put men on to prospect the ground, and a start was made early this week.

Premier.—The manager expects to have the hopper completed in a week's time. The men have been engaged laying the rails to connect with the hopper. Golden Hill.—This company is situated on the Te township side of the hill, comprising the old Prospectors and Bonanza Companies' ground. A drive has been started 150 feet below the old workings. This will give about 200 feet of backs. The Surprise reef has been traced up to the company's boundary. The drive is expected to cut this reef.

Treasury.—This company have started work prospecting the reef running through their ground. ■Luckf Hit.—The manager has started opening oat a drive on the reef lately discovered, about 15 feet lower down the hill. Some nice gold can bo seen in the stone. He intends, while the fine weather lasts, to trench along this reef on the surface, to try and pick up the junction of it with the No. 1 reef, If he succeeds, I have no doubt he will get something good, as they are both good gold bearing reefs. [BY TELEGRAJ'II. —PBESS ASSOCIATION.J Gp.eymocth, Tuesday. The mine manager of the Fiery Cross reports having broken through from the rise to the intermediate level. The reef in the face looks grand, the average width from the top to the bottom being 3 feet 6 inches, well defined, and carrying good 2oz. stone. He expects to commence crushing next week, and put through about 400 tons.
