ODR FBSB LIBRAE'S!. TO TDK EDITOR. Sir, —Yon have lately been commenting on thq winfc of judgment displayed in the selection of the last consignment Of books for the Free Library. With this mail the American! Consul has received last year'atw r> volumes of the United States Official Patent Gazette. To-day I had pleasure of glancing at the contents, and I have no hesitation in saying that each volume is a. library in itself.. Toe names Of the inventors are alphabetically arranged, likewise the titles of the so that there is no difficulty in finding the subject looked for. These volumes treat on almost every article' under the sun, and are profusely illustrated where, necessary. Mr. Griffin asked how I happened, to know of the existence of such a work, as he had never heard of it before I. requested him to get a copy for Our Free/ Library. Whether that institution will, get these' two volumes I cannot say, but .am afraid that Mr. Griffin will consider thein too valuable to himself as. works of reference; However, that is one class of literature which, is very much wanted, in New Zealaad,... whioh has. now the most liberal patent laws in the world.—l am, &c., W. Gebenshislds.
