MAJOR HARRIS AND FRANKLIN NORTH.

' TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Mr. H. S. Andrews, in his letter to you in Monday's Herald, affirms what he thinks, and not what he knows. He says Major Harris received a telegram from W. R. Wills and another. Now why should H. S. Andrews jump at this conclusion ? How can he know how many sent that telegram ? Certainly, I ought to know ; and to set the matter at rest, and to give Mr. H. S. Andrews a little peace of mind and a happy return of that blissful smile which generally overspreads his beaming face, I will briefly state the occurrence :—As chairman of No. 1 committee I sent a telegram with the approval of 29 members, approving his conduct. Surely, we had a right to say "Your committee approves, "&c., as much as Mr. H. S. Andrews says he disapproves of the Major's conduct. Trusting Mr. Andrews will keep a little more to facts, and leave imagination alone for the future, I am, &c., Otahuhu, Nov. 4. W. R. Wills.
