LICESSING COURTS.

WADE. The Wade Licensing Court met on Friday last, for the usual quarterly meeting. There were present: Mr. Hardy (chairman), Messrs. Lambert and Wilson, members of committee, and Mr. T. Seaman as clerk. The Inspector's report was satisfactory, with regard to the three hotels, saving some alterations that had been required for the Junction Hotel. The improvements were nearly all completed, and Mr. Thomas Kelly, the licencee, promised they should be finished in two or three days. That being so, the licence was allowed to remain in force. TAKAPUNA. The licensing meeting was held on Saturday, at the office of the Devonport Highway Board. There were present Mr. W. H. Brown (chairman), Messrs. E. Bartley, Fenton, Maekay (members of committee), the clerk, Mr. T. Seaman, being represented by his son, Mr. T. W. Seaman, The Inspector's report was favourable. It was stated that two conditional licences had been granted— one to Mr. Pierce, and another to Mr. Gillanders—both for the Takapuna races on St. Andrew's Day ; and that a wholesale licence had been renewed to Messrs. J. Peele and Co. A resolution was passed by the committee that in future seven days' notice should be given to the clerk in regard to applications for conditional licences.

ARCH HILL. The licensing meeting was held yesterday, at the residence of Mr. John Jones, Areli Hill. Present : Mr. Jones (chairman), Messrs, Downey and Radcliffe (members of committee), and Mr. T. Seaman as clerk. The Inspector's report was favourable to the two hotels in the district—the Eden Vine and the Arch Hill. It was reported that the licence of the Kden Vine had been temporarily transferred from Thomas Gibbs to James Taylor since the last meeting. The formal transfer of the licence was then granted by tuo committee, but Mr. Taylor's application fo-an eleven o'clock licence was refused. i
