It has transpired that His Excellency bit- "William Jervoise lias received a telegram from Earl Kimberley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, desiring him to enter upon liia duties as Governor of New Zealand in January next. [Received December 4,11.40 p.m ] THE NEW SOUTH WALES ELECTIONS. Syjjxky, December 4. In. the elections for the Legislative Assembly now proceeding, the Hon. I. B. Sutton, Minister, of Education, and Mr. T. Garrett have been returned. Messrs. W. J. Forster, John Davis, and J. S. Funevell have been rejected. [Xleceived Decerol-er % 1.20 a.m.] Sir Henry Parkes has been elected for Tonterfield without opposition. The Hon. James Watson, Colonial Treasurer, has been rejeetc-d for the Young constituency by two votes.
