JEM MACE AT THE THEATRE ROYAL.

Jf.h Mace, the well-known pugilist, gave hia final boxing and wrestling exhibition at the Theatre Royal last night. The stalls anil pit were crowded. The following is the list of boxing contests engaged in : —Keesing and Donovan, heavy Veights ; Murphy and Burns, light weights ; Green and Castle, light weights; George and Madigan, light weights ; Uurns and Joiner, light weights ; O'Meara and Gray, feather weights ; Kir by and Riley, feather weights. There was also a set-to between Keesing and .Slade, and Davis and Slade. The set-to between Keesing and Donovan, and Keesing and Made, caused great excitement, and each boxer was heartily cheered as he punished his opponent, or showed expertness in dodging or in warding oil' blows. Keesing was loudly applauded for his Indian club exercises. Arthur Tohey, a half-caste, wrestled with Slade, but Slade threw him easily. Jem Mace, at an interval in the performance, thanked the audience for their attendance, and hoped at some future time to visit Auckland again. He said Auckland was the tiue&t town in New Zealand, and had the best boxers in the colony, and he might add that Messrs. Keesing and Donovan were the two best heavy-weight boxers in Auckland. He (Jem Mace) and Slade would leave next day in the steamer Australia for San Francisco. lie would do his best to make Slade one of the best boxers of the day. The wrestling match did uot take place between Slade and McGinn. At the conclusion of the performance Jem Mace gave presents to those who had taken part in his performance—viz., Keesing, pair of foils, singlesticks, and silver medal; Donovan, set uf boxing-gloves, siuglestieks, and silver medal ; Murphy, set of gloves aqd medal; Green, set of gloves; George, set of gloves; Madigan, set of gloves; O'Mcara, set of gloves ; Kirby, set of gloves ; Tohey, foils and dumbbells ; Davis, foils, gloves, and silver medal.
