ARRIVAL OF THE LOCH FLEET. At an earJy hour on Wednesday, Nov. 8, a vessel was noticed coming up the harbour, and laving reached the Queen-street Wharf was ound to be the New Zealand Shipping Company a fine vessel named the Loch Fleet, iter passage has occupied 126 days, and oon* lerabe anxiety arose from that fact. Her i iargo, which is large and valuable, consists of general merchandise. She also brings a largo lumber of passengers, all of whom are in good lealth and appear to be pleased with the treatuent received at the hands of both captain and ifficers daring the passage. The voyage has been intirely uneventful, and the captain has been Ather unlaoky having had very light winds hroaghont the trip, 234 miles being the largest lay's work. The following report of tho voyage i»s been supplied by Captain Cochrane : —July

Tlie barque Loch irr arrived at au eai ly hour on Wednesday, November 3, inchargeof Captain >> Murdoch, and has a large cargo and a number of passengers, consigned to the Keif Ze.Jand • Shipping Company. Tho Loch Urr h;is had a I' comparatively fair we-ither passage. While the ' vessel was in tho vicinity of the Cape of 0«od '» Hope a very severe galec ime on, continuing tor >' G dtys, .luring which an apprentice named John > J'earce fell overboard an ! was drowned The *• fuil particulars of the occn rences appear belotv. *> All the passeugers come i:i good health. Captain Murdoch reports regarding tho trip : — >< Left London on the 25iti July, at 7 a.m., anchored at Gravesend at 10 a.m. Got undcr- ' weigh at 4 p.m., and passed through the Downs j- at midnight ; wind light from N.E. Ou the29th Sept., at 10.10 a.m., John '• Francis I'earce, apprentice. while on the main yard overhauling the buntlines unseen by any one, fell overboard. Heing on the poop, and hearing his cry to leeward, immediately hove a 3, life-buoy as neir as I could to him ; brought the ship to the wind and lowered the port boat i r down, manned by tour hands, who pulled by r. directions {riven from aloft. On reaching the ■t placo thore was no appearance of the unforr, tunate lad. The boat kept pulling about the d place till 11.30, when they returned. Came to G the conclusion he must havo perished. ARRIVAL OF THK BAKQUE COROe MANDEL. During Wedneiday forenoon a third barque , was signalled at the Victoria flagstaff as being inside Tiritiri, and it was at once concluded i- that she would prove to he the Margaret Galbraith, no«v overdue, from London. Much » to the astonishment of everyone, however, the 1 numbers of the tine favourite b.rque Cor*- . mandcl. flying Messrs. 8b« riavill and Co.'s • flag, which left London for Auckland on August t 6, were hoisted. It will he seen that while the . othor vessels, which arrived early in the day, • had had uncommonly light weather through- • out the trip, tho Corom >!idel had been favoured , with strong favourable bie. zes from the bt- • ginning to the end of thu voyage. Hhe has a large valuable cargo of general merchandise on . board, consigned to Messrs. L. D. Nathan i and Go. The passengers, .'IS ;n all, arrive i" in the best of health and spirits, and are i delighted with thu passage, which Ins - bee» characterised by soma as a pleasure . trip. Nothing of interest transpired on bo •rd I during the voyage, and Captain Hendry reports of it as follows : —Left Lou.lon Aur.ust :"ir h, ai.d 1 Gravosend the folloving day. On the 24'h of I August sighted the Island of Sr. Antonio, i Grossed the Equator in longitude 2. r )deg. writ, date sth Sopteinber. Picked up the S.E. trades, which carried the ship to latitude l'.l'-lG longitude 32..15 W., date 3rd September. Ur.wxe.i the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope in latitude 41" S., on the fifty third day from the Lizird.*, having carried changeable winds from S.K. to N.E. from date of losing the S.E trades. Ran the eastiug down between 43deg. and 45Jeg. Had smnrt N.W. breezes to crossing the meridian of Tasmania, on the 27th of October. Thence had S.S. W. winds to the Three Kings, sighted November 5. Theno moderate southorly winds, arriving on November S, the passago thus occupying 84 dayj, or 83 days from land to laud. ARRIVAL OF THE MARGARET GALH HAITI?. Messrs. Shaw Safill and Co.'s fine ship Margaret Galbrwifh put in nn npiiearancu on Thursday Nov. 8, after 120 days' passage fron. London. The ship has twice visited this port before, and comes as on tho former occasions in charge of Captain Ferguson, a well-known nmi favourite master. From the oflicial leport of the trip it would appear that the vessel has ; been very unlucky so fir i>s the wind is concerned, and consequently has made a ion;; paspage. It will bo lecollccted that when she first ■ visited this port «he made an extraordinarily i good passage of 85 days, and several of he.- ] runs Home have been equally fust. Captsin • Ferguson characterises the voyage ns being the worst he his made to New 2eah:nd. The . ship Margaret Galbraith and barque Coromandel sailed from Napier on the same day and hour, ] and the former was in Lundon thirty days in , ndvauce of the latter. In this instance the i Coromandel hss been more fortunate—having made the passage in twenty-six days' less than tho .Margaret Galbraith. She brings thirty , passengers, all of whom nre in good health, although in some instances tbey are somewhat ' tired of their life on shipboard. She also biinga i a very large cargo of general merchandise. ' NEW YACHT. We aro pleased to notice that there is at the present timo a revival in the yacht building c trade of this port, and thore is no doubt that i if the Yacht Club, which is now being formed, and which we recently advocated as desirable t for a port such as Auckland, is carried \ to a successful issue, the yacht building n trade will still further increase. We i havo hore builders who have the ability to S turn out yachfts equal to any that may bo si found in any port, as miy be instanced by tho e Arawa, Bita, and others. At the present timo Mr. Logan, yacht and boat, builder, of the North I Shore, has in hand tho building of a new yacht a for Mr. C. H. Street. Tho yacht, which is <3 pretty well advanced (the whole of tho frame being together, and the planking to be com- o menced this week), is of the following dimeu- t sions : —Length oAernll on deck, 52 feet: length on load line, 42 feet; length of keel, 30 feet f» inches ; beam, 8 feet; depth to top of keel, 8 b feet 3 inches; and from underneath side of I deok beams to bottom of keel, 10 feet 7 inches, e She has 6 tons of lead on her keel, which waH o cast and bolted to her main keel before any s ! other work was commenced. The cabin is to £ [ be fitted up in a style somewhat similar to the p and her model very like that vessel's n except in her bows. In this direction a departure has been made from the ordinary cutter bow or straight stem, as she will have a out- p water or schooner stem. She will have a square T counter, and in every way the new yacht will in be a more roomy and powerful vessel than the G Arawa. Her tonnage, according to yaoht b> measurement, will be 11 tons, and she is to bo £ finished by the 15th Deoember r j

Tha barque Alceitis was in collision with the p.u. Decim* in the River Yarra, Melbourne, on r the 12th ult. Both vesiehi were in charge of a pilot, and no damage wns done of any moment to either vessel. The Pilot Board considered neither pilots were to blame, it being proved that the Alcestis did not answer her helm when put " hard a-port."
