ORGAN RECITAL AT ST. MARK'S.

♦ This recital took place last evening, when a large congregation was present. The occasion was in further celebration of the neworgan, a description of which we gave some time ago. On the present occasion Mr. WclJs (the organist oi the Cathedral at Christchurch) kindly consented to preside at the instrument. The service was opened with Hymn 431, "Disposer Supreme." The Ven. Archdeacon Pritt then read prayer. Mendelssohn's Sonata in F was given on the organ. As to the execution of this, we can only say that it was admirable. Next followed the anthem, "This is the day," and this was succeeded by an andante in Fby Smart. The composer's quiet and sweet flowing music received excellent justice from the executant. The choir then followed with Dr. Keeton's beautiful anthem, " The eyes of all wait on Thee, O God." The jieforiner then rendered an "Air Varied," by Adolphe Hessee. The rendering of this work was marked by character and expression, which made it particularly pleasant. The anthem, "Judge me, 0 God, ;> by Mendelssohn, was uext sung, and after this a most beautiful gavotte by Ambrose Thomas was performed by the accomplished organist, and the hymn No. 24 brought all to a closo. A choir of some thirty voices added much to the interest of the occasion.
