THE SITUATION IN EGYPT,
Cairo, May 15. It lias transpired that the leaders of the Chamber of' Notables are endeavouring to mediate between the Khedive and the Ministry. His Highness is, however, temporarily absent, and the situation is practically unchanged. News has been received here that the French Mediterranean squadron has already started from the Piraeus for Egyptian waters.
OI7TBAGE IN-LONDON. London, May 14. A canister containing blasting powder was discovered by the police last night outside the Mansion House. No trace as yet has been obtained of the perpetrators of the intended outrage.
THE CRISIS IN EGYPT. London, May 14. It has transpired that the Channel squadron is under orders to be ready within a fortnight to proceed to the Mediterranean in view of the state of affairs in Egypt.
