THE HARVEST IN WAIKATO. — DAMAGE BY THE RAIN.

» [FROM OUR OWN COIIRE3FONDENT.] Hamilton, Friday. The prospects for the harvest are becoming alarming. There is a considerable quantity of wheat cut and in the stook, perhaps more as yet uncut. Many started to cut on Wednesday morning, but the change in the weather caused them to discontinue, and it has rained more or less sinca. Yesterday the heavy rain was accompanied with a strong east wind, and much wheat and late oats must have been laid. The rain kept on almOßt continuously from mid-day yesterday throughout the night, and is now steadily falling, with every appearance of a continuance. Much damage will be done to the wheat in stook, as a very few days' rain in this climate will cause it to grow or sprout in the sheaf.
