FIRE AT BLENHEIM.

At midnight a fire broke out in the midst of a thickly-built block situated in the centre of the town, and spread with gre-it rapidity, burning to the ground the Lyceum Hall and four dwelling-houses, close by the back Healy & Son's boot warehouse. ' FalcoaerYVfariiiture warehouse was on fire several times, and was only saved by the strenuous exertions of the Fire Brigade, aided by willing assistants. Luckily, there ■was no wind, or greater portions of. the business part of the town would have been swept away. It is supposed that the fire originated in Scott's bakehouse. The following are the insurancesHealy and Son's buildings (partly burnt) : Royal, £350; stock (not much damaged), New Zealand, £350; in the Colonial, £600; Liverpool, London, and Globe, £300. J. Scott's buildings : National, £250; stock and working f ia nt, Royal, £170. House occupied by Lewis, in the New Zealand, £100. Kennedy's furniture, New Zealand, £150. A cottage in the Trans-AHantic for £30; blacksmith 'Partly burned),Trans-Atlantic, £70; Lyceumhall, insured for £300, but in what office not saown.
