RIOTOUS PROCEEDINGS.

TO ME EDITOR. Sir, —Your strictures on the rowdyism displayed at Mr. J. M. Clark's last meeting ■were certainly too mild. Mr. Thomas Mason, one of Sir George Grey's staunch supporters, found it necessary to go on the platform, and urge Mr. Clark not to leave the building ! Is it not monstrous that our Mayor, a man who has done so much for us, should have been in danger of molestation, because he differed from others in political opinions? Verily, we are going back to the days of the Inquisition, when a man durst not say his soul was his own. And this state of things is due to the so-caUed oppressed and submissive working man ! —I am, &c, Decorum.
