[press association.] NAPIER, Thursday. There is great scarcity of labour here for shearing and hay-making. A farmer, named Gilligan, a very respectable man, has been missing from home for the past week. At Messrs. Hoadley and Lyons' first wool sale, 34S bales and 60 pockets were offered. All were sold. Cross-bred, greasy, 7Jd to 9Jd ; merino, Sid to 9Ad ; scoured cross-bred, 15d ; merino, 17Jd. The Ha'.vke : s Bay Ram Fair is fixed for the 25th of January. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Material reductions in the wharfage rates have been agreed to by the Lyttelton Harbour Board, and come into operation in the beginning of the year. The Customs revenue for November Was £18,004, as against £12,070 last year. TIMARU, Thursday. The Customs revenue for the month was £1209. Mr. Sherwin has been elected mayor of Waimate. DUNE DIN", Thursday. The amount of duty collected for the month of November at the Customs, is £34,452 5s 3d. Gold duty is £1210 10s 7d, beer duty is £1245 12s sd.
