George, Mr. John Shepherd, Mr. H. W. Farnall. The Courthouse was crowded, and the meeting had to Tje hold outside. Each candidate addressed the electors. The show of hands was as follows :—George, 44 ; Shepherd, ]1 ; Farnall, 1. Sir George Grey arrived by the steamer, and was loudly cheered. He was called on to address the electors. At the oonolusion of his speech he was loudly cheered. Sir George repeated the statistics relative to the holders of land in England, Scotland, Ireland, and New Zealand, and asked the electors to elect a Liberal representative who would not . juntenance land monopoly. THAMES. Tiiamks, Wednesday. The nomination of candidates for the representation of the Thames electoral district took place at noon to-day. Contrary to general expectation, only two cv.viiiliil-.es were nominated, Mr. MaCuUcugh an.! Mr. McGowan having retired. Mr. Johu Wilson, of Tararu, nominated He. John Sheehan, and Mr. R. F. Douglas nominated Mr. W. J. Speight. On a show of hands being called for, 10(5 were held up for Mr. Sheehan and 125 for Mr. Speig'it. A poll vs-as demanded on behalf of Mr. Sheehan. Both candidates addressed a few words to the "lectors present. The proceedings were Tery quiet, and did not occupy moru than half-au-hour, they terminating with a. vote of thanks to the returniug-officer, Mr. K-eurick. C-OrtOMANDEL. Cokomandk.l, Wednesday. Mr. Brodie addressed a large meeting of electors last night, and received a vote of thanks. At the hustings to-day, Mr. Caduian Mr. Brodie, Mr. Mackay, and Mr. Your§-, nominated. Just as the show of hands was called, the working class electors arrived, but were unable to obtain admittance, otherwise Mr Kelly's number would have been greatly augmented. Ue3srs. Stewart, Morris, and Row<; are Ministerialists, Mr. Kelly alone is a Greyite.

The show of hands was in favour of Mr. Hursthouse. Reefton, Wednesday. The Inangahua nominations were Messrs. T. S. Weston, K. 11. Reeves, and William McLean. Timaru, Wednesday. Messrs. R. Turnbull, J. T. Partridge, and J. S. Gibson were nominated for Timaru seat to-day. The show of hands favoured Mr. Turnbull. Duxedin", Wednesday. For Dunedin Messrs. W. Fraser and Pyke were nominated. At the show of hands Mr. Pyke had 15 and Mr. Fraser 9. For Port Chalmers Air. Macandrew, being the only candidate, was declared elected. Invekcargill, Wednesday. The following candidates were nominated for Awarua electoral district: A. Kinross, J. W. Bain, D. Smith, and J. Joyce. The •how of hands was in favour of the latter.
