SERVANTS' HOME.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —May I ask you to insert the following :—When the Young Women's Institute was merely a suggestion many people were of opinion that a Servants' Home ought first to be established in Auckland, and they expressed readiness to help such a work. The former is now an existing and most successful institution, and.'an opportunity offers for the furtherance of its usefulness by the opening of a home for servants in connection with it. An appeal for funds for this branch of the work was made to the public a short time ago at a conversazione held in the hall of the Young Moil's Christian Association. .Notwithstanding the expression of interest in this scheme, and the reiteration of the phrases, " What a good thing it would be," and "What a boon to servants, and to the public at large," the sympathy of those to •whom'such an institution would be a comfort, in'the probable supply of good'and 'efficient servants, has not yet been shown by a response to the appeal.
