nearly all branches during the past month. A very large number of new undertakings, principally mining ventures, have laiely been offered to the public, and appear to have been successfully floated. Colonial, and especially New Zealand, stocks hare attracted a considerable amount of attention. In most instances they close considerably higher on the month. On average, New Zealand bonds are rather more than 1 per cent, better on the month, the upward movement in the 4 per cent, inscribed stock, to the extent of 3 per cent., being again most pronounced. Wool.—The second aeries of colonial wool Bales for the present year opened on the 10th instant. There was a good attendance of buyers from all sections of the trade, and on the whole excellent spirit was leading parcels. Since the opening night, there has been a decided improvement in the tone of the market. Tho descriptions which, up to the present, have failed to participate in the amendment, are Cape wools, low crossbreds, and inferior and faulty scoured merino, which may be considered a3 ranging from id to Id per lb. below the rates current at the end of last series. Lambs wool of all descriptions, if free from fault, is sensibly dearer, late purchases exhibiting an advance of from Jd to Id per lb. Corn Market.—Supplies of Australian wheat into London have been heavy, and, being sold to a large extent to close speculative accounts, prices have consequently given way.
