Ou Wednesday last the op-train was nearly an hour late, aud on many occasions the down-train has been from a quarter of an hour to half an hour behind time. This is ea iscd by the large amount of traffic, on scne occasions there being such a number of j.-.rriaf'es and trucks that the engine could hardly drag the train over the steeper gradients. This would seem to point to the fact that the time has come when a return | might profitably be made to the old custom of running two'trains daily each way on the Auckland and Wailcato railway. There is no doubt that the tratlic is getting fast b-jyond the one train daily, and as little doubt that if the extra train were run the passenger trallic would be largely increased. Mr. Lovett is making good work with the contract for forming the Rukuhia road, which leads from the Narrows to the Rukuhia railway station on one side, aud from the I'uhikaramca block to the station on the other side. This road will l>c a considerable feeder to the railway, and it was understood that some sort of promise had been made that the railway should supply the necessary gravel for coating it, not too much indeed for .Mr. "Williamson to expect, when he is at some £700 expense in making a public road which will largely benefit the railway returns.
