MANGONUI. A vocal and instrumental concert was held here on Wednesday evening, the 28th April, the object being to obtain funds for prizes for school children, and a farewell to Captain Keith and officers of the whaling barque Triton. Mr. Houston occupied the chair, and stated the objects of the meeting, and introduced the several performers. An excellent programme was creditably gone through. A vote of thanks to the ladies by Mr. Inder was passed by acclamation. The chairman tendered a farewell to Captain Keith and officers of the Triton on behalf of the inhabitants of Mangonui, wishing them a prosperous and speedy voyage home. Captain Keith in a very neat speech thanked the inhabitants for their kindness to him and officers. — [Own Correspondent, 29th April!]
