SALES BY AUCTION. March 10. Messrs. Samuel Cochrane and Son held a sale this day of freehold properties in the estate of the late Henry Keesing, when the following prices were realised Two brick houses in Princes-street, immediately below the Northern Club, £G10; allotment in Shortlandstreefc, £360 ; and an allotment, Bank-street, £1 3s per foot. March 4. To-day Mr. R. Arthur reports a large property in Hobson and Chapel-streets was offered for sale by order of ths trustees of the late Captain Lillewall. The attendance was good. Hobsonstreet frontages sold at £7 to £7 10s per foot. The house and allotments in Uhapel-street were passed for higher price than was offered. March 11. Mr. E. Arthur offered for sale the schooners Advance and Opotiki by order of the mortgagee ; there were a good number present, but bidding was very languid. The Advance 58 j 59-100 tons registered tonnage was first offered. ' Bidding commenced at£36o, andslowly advanced i to £370 ; she was passed for a higher price, and has since been sold at £400. The Opotiki, 37 92-100 tons, registered tonnage, started at £200, and was sold at £245. March 19. Messrs. E. and A. Isaacs held an extensive sale o: ships' stores, wines and spirits, bulldog ale and stout, kc. t on Thursday last, at which good prices were realised, the attendance ! being fair. j On Thursday the sash and door factory at Newton, with engine and boiler and the seven allotments on which it is erected, having 107 feet frontage to "West-street, and 132 feet frontage to Dublin-street, was sold by auction by Mr. R. Arthur, and realised the sum of £810. March 24. Mr. Alfred Bucklandheld a land and property sale to-day at the Haymarkefc, and the following lots were sold :—A farm of 4SO acres, adjoining the township of Alexandra, with house and buildings thereon, £16G0, purchaser Mr. Sv. I. Taylor ; 1 acre, in the township of Kihikihi, £32, Mr. "VV. A Owen ; 1 acre, in the township of Alexandra East, £21, Mr. "W". H. Fenton ; 1 acre (255), £10, Mr. J. P. King. The allotments at Hamilton, Whatawhata, and Wairua, also Mr. Jas. Brown's "Waikato farm, were passed. Messrs. B. Tonks and Co.'s sale of allotments was fairly attended, and the following allotments sold : —Allotment corner of St. Mary's Road, Punsonby, £03; seven allotments at "Whangarei, £2S; at Port Albert, four allotments at 16s each, three at 24s each, and two at 35s each. The lots at Raglan and Karioi were passed. Messrs. B. Tonks and Co. sold the privileges in connection with the Easter races at Henderson's Mill. The right to sell liquors and refreshments, £30, Mrs. McClougblin; cards, £15, AVm. Adams; also totalisator, £7. March 25. Mr. A. G. Grant sold this morning, by public auction, by order of the Harbour Board, the right to collect tolls on the Queen-street and Railway Wharves, also the right for levying charges for the weighbridge. The period for which they were sold was for nine months. Bidding started at £120, and was finally knocked down to Mr. J. Russell at £152 per month, or at the rate of £1824 for the year. The net income to the Board for the year 1879 was £1507 4s Bd, so that the result of this public competition shows a clear increase of profit at the rate of £25G 15s 4d per annum.
