Rainfall very little ; on seven consecutive days, from Stlx to 14th, inclusive, and on two single days, ones nearly 4-inch, twice more exceeding J-inch. On the other six days in small quantities. Barometlc pressure very variable, but mostly below average ; mean of all readings near. 1 / one-tenth below that of season. Lowest depression nearly coincident with the chief violence of the gale on the 12th, a velocity of 40 miles per hour being read at the time of observation.
