Tee performance was opened by a pianoforte duet, "The Poet and Peasant." The selections were of a hi»li order throughout, and the trio, "The Mariners" (Randegger), introducing Miss Marie Carandini and Messrs. Sherwiu and Gordon Gooch, was Bung with much expression. Madame Carandini was in excellent voice, and rendered full and ample justice tn the difficult, but cxpr. s=ive cavatina, "One Gentle Heart" (Wallace), for whieh sho was loudly applauded. Subsequently io the song "Come Back to Erin" (Claribel), and the various concerted pieces in which she took part she achieved new honours. Miaa Marie Carandini sung several gems, amongst others, "Once Again" (Sullivan), in which she achieved a marked success for which she had to pay the penalty of an cncore. She acceded by singing to her own accompaniment the sweet and plaintive Scottish air 14 I Cannot Mind my Wheel," with exquisite effect. Her rendering of "Ring on, Sweet Angelus " was al=o a splendid treat, and was received with prolonged applause. Mr. Gordon Gooch Euni: several pieces, the best of which perhaps was the grand descriptive song, " Wrecked and Saved," his effective representation of which fairly brought down the house, and in answer to a demand for an eneore he substituted "Will the Wisp." Bilfe'n gem, "Trust Hir N'ot," sung by Madame and Ms? Mare C..r.indini, was as popular as ever. The quartettes, trios, bufTo-drn-ts, and other selections were much appreciated, and it was acknowledged that tlu new programme was quite as excellent as the preceding ones.
