The Property Assessment Bill is to com? on for discussion tomorrow, but a very general impression prevails that there is not now, and, probably, never was, any serious intention to pass it into law this session, as it is not required to meet the deficit this year, and would not, possibly, be brought into operation in time to do fo. It is thought it can well be left over till next year. In all probability, if it goes iuto committee, Ministers will propose to exempt all descrip* tions of personal property, and confine it to r«\al and invested estate only. TELKG R A MS-IXQUIR Y COMMITTEE. The Tel'grains-Inquiry Committee are expected to report to morrow, and it is believed that they will report that a number of the telegrams laid on the table were of a private character, had been paid for, and were laid on the table in contraventi' n of the Tvlegraph Act. THE BANKRUPTCY ACT. In committee o:i the Bankruptcy Bill, at an eavly hour this morning, Mr. Wakeliold got a clause inserted, giving the trustee power to void any act of the bankrupt done within six months prior to the bankruptcy. The bill 13 likely to be recommitted to have this expunged. TFIE LAXDS BILL. In the Landa Bill, a clause giving companion of culators a rebate, equal to £20 f»r each adult introduced by them to the colony, was struck out. This clause was framed in the interest of Mr. Vesey Stewart, and would, it is said, have been worth £12,000 to him if ifc bccamc law.
