VETERAN VOLUNTEERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Iq your issue last Saturday you mention a graceful act of the Victorian Government in its recognising the loug services of Volunteers, by conferring a medal for 15 years' continuous service. You al«o very properly suggest that our own Government might go and do likewise. The expense would not be great, as very few members now connected with the force have been in it for that time ; and doubtless those who have, deserve this recognition of their services by the colony. Whatever the opinion of some may be with respect to the system itself, there can only be one opinion as to the above claim on account of long set vice in the face of disheartening circumstances. At least this is the opinion of December 1, 1879. Atr Old Colonist.
