PUMPING OPERATIONS AT THE THAMES.
■'. _« ""■ A nRETiw of the directors of the variciw wining companies interested ia the pumping operations is to be held this forenoon, at K»'j office of the Mnanataiavi Gold Miniug Company, Sb.ortland- areet, for the purpose of considering a scheme for starting pumping operations at the Thames. The nature of the project proposed has not y.;i transpired, bu'ii wsv arc informed that t' * plan ia a feaaib'/e one, aud that it is V.kely te meet with the approve! of thoss cinst interested. We hope,' therefore, that ih« directors who have been invited to atjond will put in an appearance, as it is of the utmost importance that if the project is at all reasonable, it, or some modification of it, should be adopted with as little ' delay as possible. The present depression in mining affairs at the Thimes is to a great extent due to the suspension of the operations of tho Pumping Association, and we have reason to believe that any reasonable scheme by which these pumps could be once more set going would have a most beneficial effect.
