CHARITABLE INSTITUTION.
TO THE BDITOB. Sir,- —I beg to draw your attention to a paragraph in your issue of the 24th instant, respecting the donation of £18, subscribed by the Kaipara district, for the benefit of the widow LiUlechild, The proposition held out is, that the money be handed over to some charitable institution. Now, I, for one, am adverse to such a proposition ; and as the legality of' putting , it into force is very questionable, I submit the course to adopt would be to' send the amount to the poor widow for whom it was originally intended, and not allow the money to be converted into another channel, for which purpose it never was subscribed.—l am, &0., C. Hanson. . June.24, 1870. .
