Breadstuffs during tha week have undergone very little change, and holders, in consequence of the firm tone now enrrent in Southern and • other markets, continue to sustain the late ad- ; vance. Advices from Oaraaru state that prime ■ samples of wheat are held for 5s f.0.b,, and i flour in proportion, so that our quotations are now being held for. Adelaide flour is quite out ; of the market, hut 100 tons are coming forward, which will, doubtless, realise from Xt 4 to £15 per ten. Oats remain at the same price, and i we do not hear of any important transactions ; taking place, consumers being of opinion s that the heavy stocks afloat and to arrive (some 7COO sacks) will weaken prices. • Utilize ia very unsettled in consequence of ; the arrivals to-cay and tho knowledge of I large shipments afloat, and to give a quota- : tion is almost out of tho question till after the sale to-morrow of the fijian, ex Island i Lily. There is, in addition to the 1200 bags rel ceived this week, about 2500 sacks afloat. Pota- ; toes are, as we anticipated, easier in value, and i we have heard of Canterbury being placed at s £5 12b Gd per ton (bugs included), but j whether tbis will be sustained in the r face of some GOOO sacks afloat remains a to be proved. Waikato growth is not worth more than £5 per ton in parcels, a small line - having been quitted at that figure. The gei neral disposition among holders, is now to realise, as tho market is overdone, and it is - therefore probable, that, in the course of a few f days, further alteratkr. in value will be made. - A line of sacks of Hobart Town seed has Y been received, and the bulk placed at £8 to £10, i according to quality. Jams and green fruit i have arrived from Hobart Town in quantity, r but tho bulk i» not landed, and it is anticipated , that, as the green fruit is in excellent condition, t remunerative prices will be obtained. Butter r and eggs remain stationery at last week's quoi tations. Bacofl and hams of good sound cure, command payable values, and as little is coming r forward, prices may bo aaid to be a shade firmer, , one or two sales of Southern having been quoted b at 9d to 9£d by the case. For the horoughbred stock thero was fair competition. )ecaption brought £49; All-Steel, £55; tosalie, £42 ; Jenny Lind withdrawn. Draught Lqrse stock were in moderate number, and more imited inquiry than of late, and brought rom £28 ito £40; strong riding and light larness, £10 to £23. On Tuesday hides were.in usual numbers and ate values ; best qualities, and 3Jd the b. A large number are constantly received mperfectly salted—-those sell at nominal >rices. Tallow, 24s Gd the cwt. Sheepskins vere in larger than usual jupply; prices without .Iteration, and ranged from Is 2d to 3s 2d each. ,Vool, 5d the lb. . The sale at the Wairoa was indifferently ittended, and will, in future, bo held at Papatura on similar dates. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattlo were n steady demand at late values, and ranged rom £7 to £13. Store cattle ind in good inquiry. Fat cattle were in iverage number—l3o head yarded. For best mimals bidding was brisk, and an advance of !s to 3s the JOOibs. was obtained. Prices ranged 'rom 26s to 33s ; averaging 32s for good quality. Breeding ewes in fair inquiry, and brought 12s to 14s Gd each ; lambs, Gs to 7s ; fat sheep in jxcess of requirement, and, although a conjiderable number were withdrawn. Prices were lower 2s to 3s each; good half-bred wethers, fairly fatted, ranged from 10s to Ids sd, or barely 2Jd per lb. Pigs were numerous, mi at low values. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S WEEKLY REPORT. Horses. —There has been but slight alteration in the market. An average number has been brought forward, but proved sufficient in requirements. The number entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards was scarcely so large as usual. Bidding was steady, and with few exceptions lots were cleared; few very good horses of any class were disposed of, and there was no noteworthy alteration in values as compared with last week. Cattle. —There has been considerable animation, and prices for fat and store stock had an upward xendoncy. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, there was a fair number yarded, and competition was keen, and 32s 6d per lOOlbs. was given freely for well-fatted oxen, and last weeks quotations for other descriptions of stock was fully maintained.
