A cartsp. named Robert Cameron, in the employ of Messrs. Ehrenfriedßros., brewers, met with a rather serious accident yesterday afternoon in Port-street, while in the performance of his duty. He was engaged receiving some cases from Graham's bonded store, and had stowed several in the cart, and was in the act of turning round with another, when by some means he slipped, doubling his right leg under, the case falling away from him. The men in the establishment at once extricate! him, and Constable McGiip procure 1 the assistance of Dr. Phil son, who was at the time passing in Queenstreet. Upon examination the doctor ascertained that the log wag fractured below , the knee. He at once proceeded to set the broken parts before swelling set in, and then ou his recommendation, the man was removed to the hospital in an express cart. From inquiries made last night wo ascertain that, although the injury is a painful one, and will disable Cameron for a considerable length of time, he is likely to recover'the use of his injured limb. It was fortunate that suiih timely aid was available, or the consequence* might have been more serious.
