VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The Victoria, Hobson, and Scottish Companies met at the Drill-shed yesterday evening, and had a first-rate drill, under the direction of Major Derrom. The Hobson Company's bugler was called to the front, and, under the direction of the Major, sounded the different skirmish calls. After this the men were put through various skirmishing movements, at the quick and double, to the sound of the bugle. The companies were then dismissed, well pleased with their night's drill. Owing to the unavoidable absence of Major Morrow, the meeting re the formation of a battalion for drill purposes of the Victoria, No. 3, Hobson, and Scottish Companies, was deferred till next Tuesday, when a full muster of officers is required. We believe that, if the companies will consolidate for drill purposes, it will soon tell to their advantage.
