LAW AND POLICE.
DISTRICT COURT.—MONDAY. The Clerk of the Court announced that he had received a letter from the learned judge intimating his inability to attend through illnesß, and suggesting that Mr. Brookfield might be requested to act as deputy. A messenger was despatched to Mr. Brookfield, who could not be found, and there was no alternative but to adjourn the court to the 30th of June. The following was the business set down on the cause list:—Dyer v. Thompson (judgment); Te Wheoro v. Hawke (application for a new trial) ; Baird v. Kirkwood, £49 12s (goods) ; Connell v. Craigh, £60 12s Sd (balance of account} ; Lavers v. Hay, £74 8s 8d (goods) ; National Bank v. Duncan McNab, £89 18s 7d (balance of account) ; Hall v. Hancock and Co., £40 6s 2d (goods); Thompson v. Darrack, £84 8s 9d (P.N.) ; Moir v. Henderson, £100 (damage).
