New Zealand Herald Office, Monday evening. The Customs duties collected to-day amounted to £407 17s Cd. SALE OF WASTE LANDS. A public sale of rural waste lands of the Crown was held yesterday, at the Waste Lands office. Parliament-street, by Mr. D. A. Tole, Chief Commissioner. There wa3 a fair attendance, but few buyers. Tho following is the result :— Parish of Tuakau.—Lot 21, 85% lr 37p, bought by Mr. J. Walker at the upset price £171; lot 7G, 75a, bought by Mr. Poland at tho npaet price £93 las. Lot 20, 110 a 2r 2bp, upset prico £22110 a, was not sold. Parish of MANGATAWinnr.—Lot IS4, 40a, upset price £40, bought by Mr. Dilworth at £48. Parish of Kaheroa.—Lot 112, 39a "r ISp, bought by Mr. Frater at the upset price £40. Whangaroa Survey Distict. — Waitapu Block : ljlock S, section 1, -'t.S i, bought by Mr. Lennox at the upset price £38. Section 2 of the same block, containing 59a, the upset prico of whicli waa £59, was passed, there being no bid. Pimiu Survey District.—Puketutu Block, Whangarei District: Block 10, section 5, 50a, bought by Mr. Noabes, at the upset pricc £50. Four other blocks in this district, varying from 60a to 48a, were passed. Kawakawa Sukvet District.—Block 16, sections 1 and 2, 31a lr 3Gp, bought by Mr. Fairley at the upset price £32. Pabish of Waiwera. —West portion of lot 148, 40a, bought by Mr. Moffat at tho upset price £40. Parish of Te Papa (Tadbanga).—Lot S9a: I 24a, bought by Mr. Jordon at the upset price, I £30 ; lot 393, Gla, bought by Mr. Jordon at the upset price, £51. Lots 391 and 391 a, 50a and 37p, which were put up at the upset price of £125, ! and subjcct to £500 for improvements, wore withdrawn from sale. , Oi'Otiki District (Parish of Wawaxa).— Lot 287, 20a, upset price £20, bought by Mr. George at £41; lot 288, 20a, upßet prico £41; t lot 288, 20a, upset price £20, bought by Mr. : George at £41. Parish of WAiOTAHr.—Lot 154, 50a, bough) by Mr. Reid at the upset price £50 ; lot 155, I 02a, bought by Mr. Reid at the upset price, [ £G2. Thirteen other blocks in this parish vary I ing in extent from 53 to 327 acres, tho upset f price in each instance being £1 per acre, were p passed, there being no bids. , Lease of Rubal Lands.- 3286 acres of rural r third-class lands in the Whangarei district, ' Poupouwhenua block were offered for lease foi , a term of 14 years, at an upset price of £10 pei \ annum, and tho lease waa bonght by Mr. Munrc J at £12 per annum. The total proceeds of the 'sale, exclusive ol the lease, were £807 15s.
