The barque Mary Millar sailed on Saturday, in ballast, for Newcastle, New South Wales. Tte s.i. Pretty Jane is advertised to sail for QLsborne, on Wednesday, at 5 p.m. Information received from Tauranga on Saturday, regarding the operations in raising the S.B. Taupo, is of a most encouraging character, ani there is now every hope tliat the contractors will sneceed in what at one time appeared a forlorn enterprise. On Friday, by the aid of hydraulics, the ressel was raised nine inches, and was securely kept there by blocks being placed under the keel. The steamer has now been raised 20 inches, and requires to be lifted much higher before the task is over. With the aid of the powerful hydraulic machinery the contractors »ro now provided with, they feel sanguine that they will be able to fulfil their contract, and bring the Taupo on to Auckland. The s.b. Glenelg, arrived in harbour on Saturday morning, from Tauranga and Mercury Bay, with passengers and the following cargo :—lO head cattle, 33 hides, 80 sheepskins, 17 sacks maize, and a quantity of sundries. She will sail for the same ports this afternoon. The 8.8. lona arrived in harbour on Saturday morning, from Ruesell and the Northern ports, with passengers and the following cargo : —lls sacks, 60 sacks oysters, a number of pigs, and •everal tons of sundries. She will return to the »ame ports this evening. The brigantine Prosperity, from Greymouth, arrived in the Manukau lato on Friday night, with a load of coal, for this port. The topsail schooner Marmion came up from the Thames on Saturday, and will proceed to the Kaipara as soon as the weather moderates. The brig Vision, from Sydney, arrived in the Kaipara last Wednesday week, and is now loading at Te Kopuru for Melbourne. The schooner Golden Isle arrived in harbeur on Saturday, from Russell, with a quantity of coal. The schooner Rover arrived in harbour on Saturday, from Whangarei, with several passengers, 40 tons coal, and a quantity of produce. She made a smart passage, only leaving WhaSgarei River late on Friday afternoon. The barque Glimpse, from Newcastle arrived in port on Saturday afternoon, after a mart run of eight days, having left the New South Wales port on Friday week. The vessel experienced strong westerly winds across. Ihe Union Co.'s s.s. Hawea arrived in harbour yesterday morning from Ruesell, whither «he had been for coal for the Southern trip. The steamer will proceed at 4 p.m. to-day to Tauranga, East Coast ports and the South. The Union Co.'a s.s. Tararua may be expected to arrive in harbour about 9 o'clock tonight from the East Coast and Southern ports. She will sail at 4 p.m. to-morrow for Sydney. The Union Company's s.s. Wanaka is expected to arrive in the Manakau about 10 sum. to-morrow, with the Southern portion of the mails for Europe and America. She will return South at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, and intending passengers will have to leave Auckland by the midday train. The P.M. b.b. City of Sydney, from Sydney, may be expected in harbour any hour after midnight. She will leave for Honolulu and San Francisco with the English and foreign mails at 2 p.m. to morrow. The large new cutter Annie, which was recently sold by Messrs. Jagger and Parker of this city, we learn by telegram has become a total wreck at Wanganui. This is her first voyage under Captain Charlton, her new omser, and we regret to learn of it terminating so unfortunately. The three-masted schooner Estella will be a, dean vessel about Tuesday, and will subsequently sail in ballast for Newcastle, N.S.W. The Government s.s. Hinemoa sailed last night for the Thames, with the- Hon. the Defence Minister and euite. She will return to-morrow night. The schooner Telegraph, from Whangaroa, with timber, Uα., arrived at Gisborne on the 13th inst.; aud the schooner Columbia, from Mercury Bay, on the same day. The new barque Loongana sailed from Hobart Town, on the lfith inst., for this port, with, a cargo of fruit, &c., and may, therefore, be expected in the course of a few days. The barque Thames entered out at the Ous toms on Saturday, for New York. She will probably sail in a fortnight, with about 400 torn of kauri gum. The French barque 8.L., 65 days out from San Fraacisco, put into this port on the lltb instant, with pumps choked by barley. She proceeded to Lyttelton on tho 14th. H.M. ship Emerald still remains in port, and is likely to do so for a week or two longer. H.M. schooner Sandfly, after a long stay in harbour, proceeded to Wellington on Monday last. . .. H.I.G.M. gun-vessel Albatross is now in the Graving Dock, undergoing thorough repairs. She will probably remain here another week, and then proceed to Samoa.
