GOOD TEMPLARISM, &c.
On the 17fch February the Devonport Hall was well filled by an audience from all parts of North Shore, and also from Auckland. The proceedings took the form of an Open Lodge Meeting, in connection with the Devonport Lodge of 1.0. G.T., the chair being occupied by Mr. George Hemus. The Rev. S. Edger delivered an address, and referred to the aim of Good Templary, the causes of much of the destitution in the home country, and the means of a remedy for the cure of intemperance. A lengthy programme of singing, reciting, &c., was gone through with much credit to all concerned; and a vote of thanks to the friends who had provided the entertainment brought this friendly gathering to a close. It is worthy of note that over 100 friends from Auckland returned by the 10.30 boat, —the lodges chiefly represented being the Good Samaritan, Newton, and Pioneer.
Tke following officers of the X O.G.T. Good Samaritan Lodge, were installed in office on Feb. 12, for the current quarter, by Brother Moulden, L.D., assisted by Brothar Worms, and Brother Thomas, D.G.I.M. : — W.C.T., Sister Bettany, W.V.T., Brother Biggs; W.T., Brother Davson, re-elected ; W.F.T., Brother Woods; W.T., Sister Iveeler, re-elected; W.C., Brother Busliell ; W.M., Brother Moulden; W.D.M., Sister Moulden; W.1.G., Brother Miller; W.0.G., Brother Meldrum; W. A.S., Brother Mitchell; NV.R.H.S., Brother Bettany; W.L.HS., Sister Goldie. The retiring officers gave in their respective reports, which shewed that though the attendance at the lodge meetings bad not been large, the lodge wa3 in a satisfactory pasition in respect to finances and numbers.
