ACCLIMATIZATION.
Considerable disappointment was experienced on Feb. 13 by Mr. J. C. Firth and other gentlemon who had for a couple of days been on the watch for the arrival of tho mail steamer from San Francisco with the white-fish ova. We have already given a detailed acconnt of the preparations made by Mr. Firth and Dr. Hector for the transfer of the ova to the Hinemoa, by which it was
to bo conveyed to the South. Part was to be landed at Tauranga, to be deposited in different lakes as far as "Eaupo, and preparations bad been made at Tauranga to %ive every assistance. But it was found when the steamer arrived, that she had not the ova. Whose fault this is we know not, but it is very unfortunate, as it is questionable whether such complete preparations can be made again.
