FINANCES OP SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Mr. Boucaut, in introducing supplementary estimates to the amount of £102,055, made an able speech of two hours' duration on the finances of the country. He said the credit balance of Mr. Ross, liis predecessor, was £31,000, but with the supplementary estimates for £192,000 and £L1'2,000, for which the late Government were responsible, he found a deficiency staring liim iu the face of £150,000. In proceeding to examine the supplementary estimates, he made the disclosure that his predecessors had expended moneys far in excess of the sum they had set down ; that they had made no provision lor railway surveys which they knew would hare to be made ; that they had not provided for a £4,000 indent for stationery ordered in August; and that they had struct out an amount for land survey parties, without calling in the parties.
